When two of the cast members came to UofL last April to talk at an Engage.Lead.Serve. Board event, they told us that the name for their show came from a poem that was written in the 1800's. They only gave us one little quote from it, but it really grabbed my attention and I decided to look more into it. After reading the entire poem, I realized that I really connected with one section and it seems to have a shocking significance at the moment, so I thought I would share:
"But often, in the world's most crowded streets,
But often, in the din of strife,
There rises an unspeakable desire
After the knowledge of our buried life;
A thirst to spend our fire and restless force
In tracking out our true, original course;
A longing to inquire
Into the mystery of this heart which beats
So wild, so deep in us--to know
Whence our lives come and where they go."
-"The Buried Life" by Matthew Arnold (1852)
